New community park
The proposed multi-use community park is central to the project, with 1.2 hectares (as part of 8.94 hectares overall open space) across the site being made available.
The intention is to create an accessible outdoor space for residents and visitors, with opportunities for walking, informal recreation, play and enjoyment of the landscape. Proposed features include footpath and cycle connections, a play area and opportunities to connect with the wider public rights of way network.
Parking and toilet facilities will also be provided for the community park and located close to the edge of the site so that they can be used by all in the community.
Improvements to walking and cycling connections are also being explored, including a new pedestrian crossing and additional footway provision along Coldharbour Lane to improve continuity between the site and the village, as well as access for visitors to the cemetery.
